My name is Lars Carlsson (b. 1970) and I have been working as a makeup
artist and wigmaker professionally since 1989. Before my professional
career started I worked with amateur theatre and local TV for four years in
my hometown of Borås, Sweden.
1989 I started my formal training as
an apprentice at the Gothenburg City Theatre in Sweden. After three months
of being an apprentice I was offered my first real job at Folkteatern in
Gothenburg.
The City theatre was my base and when I did other jobs I
was still always reporting back to my teacher there. In those first couple
of years I worked on many plays on the City theatre for example "Richard
III", "Nicholas Nickleby" and "Anna Karenina". After six months in
Gothenburg I was offered to do the "Kurt Olsson's Christmas calendar" on
Swedish TV2 but at the same time I also worked on Folkteatern and did
"Markurells" and "Hack". During these three years of training I made
"Den perfekta kyssen", "Kanelbiten" and "Folkungasagan" at Angereds Teater.
1992 my teacher gave me my "diploma" and considered me to be ready to stand
on my own legs.
1992 I started working on Stora Teatern in Gothenburg
and after a year I became a member of the permanent staff. I stayed there
until 2005. While working on Stora Teatern (that 1994 changed into The
GothenburgOpera) I was working on at least five to seven productions every
year. "Falstaff", The Opera opening, "Aniara", "Butterfly", "The flying
Dutchman", " The marriage of Figaro", "Äppelkriget" and "Kristina from
Dufvemåla" (With Bjorn and Benny from ABBA), "Swedish Classics", " Hoffman",
"Boheme", "Carmen", "The magic flute", "Tannhauser", "The barber of
Seville", "The doll doctor", "MacBeth2", "Lulu", "Don Giovanni", "Christmas
tradition", "Der Rosenkavalier", "West side story", "A chorus line",
Cinderella" and "Die Valkure" and “The Beauty and the Beast” just to mention
a few.
2005 I was offered to take over the makeup and wig
department at Folkteatern in Gothenburg, Sweden and I now work there as head
of the department. Since starting there I have done productions like:
"the Trial" by Kafka, "Vinst varje gång", "Kiki och Bozo" "Väx upp",
"Demokrat" and "Hemliga historier".
Since I took on my first steady
job in 1992 I have been taking a leave of absence every now and then to work
on productions on other places for example "Clockwork Orange" at Angereds
Teater, "Juloratoriet" at Folkteatern, a Lars Forsell project at Angered (5
stage plays), "The horrid murderer Hasse Carlsson" at Bohusläns Teater, "The
Rag doll" at Älvsborgs läns theatre, "Tomas Revy 1 and 2" at Lorensbergs

bada" on Lorensbergs teatern, "Mater Nexus" on Folkteatern "Karius and
Baktus" and "The Jungle book" for Kultkompaniet and many, many more.
During three months in late 1996 I was working on the Intiman theatre in
Stockholm on "The Blue angel".
The Autumn of 97 I worked with the
Effectstudio in Stockholm and was a head mould maker and foam runner on
the TV series "Riksorganet" for Swedish TV 1.
1998 I made Nanne
Gronwall's ears, makeup and wig for her Star Trek inspired look in the
Swedish Eurovision song contest.
I have made makeup and effects for
feature films such as Beyond, The portrait, Juloratoriet, The Precher.
Kommisarie Winter, The Wedding photographer, Sanningen om Marika, Pax and
many more
